As of this writing, AlDub Craze may what seem to others to be at the peak of its stardom and they're only on their 14th weeksary! Yet I think, it's only the tip of the iceberg what we're seeing now! I strongly believe that they have a lot more to offer after the much awaited "Tamang Panahon" happens in just a matter of hours from now!
It's barely 3 months since the onset of their unexpected pairing, AlDub has broken records after records. Imagine to get a TV ratings of more than 45% audience share which is a bit higher compared to the much coveted Pacquiao vs. Mayweaher Fight? What about the new Philippine record high on number of tweets in a 24-hour timeframe which accumulated a total of 25.6 Million tweets? Not to mention, left and right endorsements for a rough total of 6 TVC's in all, and reliable sources reveal a lot more will come very soon...
Individually, Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza have projects lined up in the coming days... Alden Richards who admittedly is not a singer by profession has 2 Gold Record Albums on his name and Maine Mendoza, the classic epitome of an anti-celebrity star, who all others notably know besides herself, that she is the fastest rising star in the history of Philippine Showbiz, is picking up the ante when it comes to endorsements, magazine covers, and TV interviews. This very wholesome couple who was recognized by no other than CBCP's Social Media Awards for being good role model to the youth, is in fact, the hottest, trendiest, and most-sought after faces both in the TV and Social Media. And come December 25th will undoubtedly might be the new prince and princess of Box Office!
But after the "Tamang Panahon" event and their MMFF film entry "My Bebe Love" ~~ What's next?
Only the fans and their handlers know! Don't get me wrong, I myself is a self-confessed AlDub Fanatic, I even recovered my Twitter account and convinced the wife to make her own Twitter account in order for us to be part of AlDub's trending HT's which almost daily reaches a Million verified tweets! However, inevitably change may get the better of something, after all, change is the only permanent thing in this unpredictable world. And i hope that this won't come soon! I mean it 'coz the breath of fresh air that AlDub or others prefer MaiDen offer is such a relief from the almost-rotten-society that Filipinos have to bear with day in and day out!
I do have faith in Eat Bulaga's creative geniuses, who after all brought to us the First ever KalyeSerye (Street Series) in the history of Philippine TV or even across the globe, will kinda sustain the zeal of the fans of the "Loved Team" for quite a longer time. Personally, I think that the TAPE & GMA management should devise a LONG TERM strategy on how to keep the pairing for years! Pacing is the name of the game, in Physics, it could be likened to the Law on the Conservation of Momentum, (search google for its meaning, lol) but it only states that unless there is an external force between two colliding objects, the momentum remains unchanged. Meaning, external forces can be and will be the demise of such stardom. Unless, you remove it from the equation. Do I make sense at all? Probably not to others so I'll make it simpler.
I've noticed how the Philippine TV from the onset of teleserye which I believe is a product of Mexican Telenovela that was a sure hit in the 90's have changed the game in primetime viewing habits of Filipino audience. We, hard to admit, still are prone to a bandwagon, what's hot now will definitely be in, and what's not is out! I aspire that AlDub will surpass the craze thing and be recognized as a pair that will last forever -- if forever does exist (in terms of Showbiz popularity)
Have you, Yes you, the one reading this article, noticed how different American TV shows go on for decades now? Are you fond or familiar with Perfect Strangers, Moonlightning, Dawson' Creek, Charmed, Seventh Heaven, even kid's shows like ICarly, Probably not anymore, what about Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead!? Yeah! You sure have watched these TV series in some way or another or may even be fanatics of it like myself. Notice the timeframe and pacing they have? Their shows are paced on a 16 episode per season and it tremendously works! The audience are given just a 16 episode per season to savor the show/series. Some like the new ones like TWD are sliced into 2 parts having a mid-season finale and a mid-season premiere thereby having only 1 season per year!
This is the LONG TERM strategy I consider the external force, which hasn't been perfectly orchestrated on Philippine TV. Probably because of many factors which I'm not privy to dissect, but one of these are most probably the endorsements which can be solicited only if you have a primetime TV series that runs daily every weekdays -- And 1 season of primetime series could last 3 to 6 months depending on the number of endorsement coming in.
This will protect the longevity of a celebrity's star, if done accordingly and flavorfully. Since both TAPE & GMA, who have thought outside of the box by creating KalyeSerye, and produced quality shows before like Mulawin and Encantadia, respectively. I heed the call for them to produce another out of the box show for Alden and Maine thereby not just making them a phenomenal craze but extraordinary artists that are pretty hard to reckon with. Although, KoreaNovela Tagalized version like that of "My Love from The Stars" which by the way has several clamor from AlDub fans, and I think is also a good choice if ever,,, I'd still believe that it's high time for Philippine TV see a U.S. TV series type of shows. After all, the Filipino audience are not new to these.
And maybe, just maybe... the AlDub saga will linger on for many years more or even decades! Just my two cents!
